How to Use Your Citroen Key Fob Smartly

Key fobs get a lot of physical abuse, and they aren't impervious to destruction. It's relatively easy to fix an unusable keyfob.
Keyless Entry
Modern automobiles are equipped with key fobs that permit the owner to unlock and start the car without having to insert a physical key into the ignition barrel. Keys with transponders contain a chip which sends a coded signal to the car when inserted, and only when the code is correct is the vehicle allowed to start.
Key fobs come with a range of built-in features. Some that the owners aren't aware of, but that can be extremely useful when needed. Remote Locking
If your remote does not respond when you press the unlock button on the fob that you have it could be because the battery is dead. It is important to check all the buttons on your key fob prior to when you start to ensure that none are broken.
Consider whether the key fob is likely to be damaged through blunt force, water or circuit board scratch marks. If it is, then you'll have to dismantle the key fob and do a visual inspection of its internal components. If the battery connector's terminals are loose or broken and you need to fix them, carefully putting them back into place may return your key fob to good working order.
Certain key fobs have the "Panic Button". This button is designed to frighten thieves, particularly if you are in a remote area like an underground parking garage. The function is not foolproof but it can deter criminals who may try to steal your car or break into your house. The panic button makes an audible sound that will scare anyone in the vicinity.
Engine Start
It is possible to switch your car on or off with a specific key fob. The system also makes sure that the engine will only start when your key fob is near by. This feature is especially beneficial in colder weather since it allows you to heat or precool your car at the comfort of your home.
If you receive an error message that says "key not detected", place the keyfob in the central armrest bin or the dashboard for vehicles with a newer model. It should then be able to use the keyfob to press START to start the car.
